Favourite Luxury Skincare Brands

I always shop right on the line of everything being slightly out of my budget. Whether that be clothing, gifts or skincare I like to get the best for my money or I won’t buy anything at all. There is nothing more infuriating to me than spending any amount of money on something “alright” when I could spend a little bit more and get something awesome. For that reason, most of my favourite skincare products are in the middle of the market, not necessarily luxury, but “middle market” just doesn’t sound very nice. I always find there is a better chance of getting better ingredients and greater results that way, and don’t worry: Luxury doesn’t have to mean expensive.

Nude
Available at Sephora and SpaceNK.
Perfect for all skin types, especially normal to oily and sensitive.
Most products are below $100.
Favourite product: Nude Purify Cleansing Wash.
Nude formulates their products with a wide assortment of probiotics, antioxidants, omegas and minerals. They are free of all nasty ingredients like sulphates, mineral oil, synthetic fragrances or colours, etc. In one word? Awesome. Every product smells fresh and organic, and the textures are very luxurious. Oh, and the prices? More than fair. They are my hot brand at the moment.

Fresh
Available at Fresh boutiques, Sephora and Harrods.
Perfect for all skin types, especially sensitive and mature skin.
Most products are below $100.
Favourite product: Fresh Seaberry Facial Oil.
As opposed to Nude being my hot brand of the moment, Fresh is my hot brand of the past few years. I have tried maybe ten of Fresh’s products and have liked them all. Does that ever happen? Fresh is all about natural ingredients and luxurious experiences, and for the price relative to prestige skincare brands Fresh is incredible for treating yourself to something special.

Clinique
Available at CliniqueSephora, Shoppers Drug Mart, Hudson’s Bay and most department stores.
Perfect for simple, basic skincare.
Most products are below $50.
Favourite product: Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel.
Clinique is a brand designed to cater to all skins, no matter ethnicity, age nor skin type. No allergens or skin irritants are used in their formulations. Most products are fragrance-free. Their makeup is often formulated to improve skin appearance beyond just covering imperfections. Clinique is the tried-and-true brand of the luxury skincare industry. If you want something simple and no-frills, Clinique is a great choice. Just make sure to choose their milder toners formulated without alcohol, or try one of their new essences.

Kiehl’s
Available at Kiehl’s boutiques, Hudson’s Bay, John Lewis.
Perfect for normal to dry skin types, especially mature skin.
Most products are below $60.
Favourite product: Ultra Facial Cream.
Very similar to Clinique, Kiehl’s is a time-tested brand with many products that have stood unchanged for decades. I am a big fan of their formulations for normal to dry skin types as their formulations for oily skin types tend to be rather harsh.

First Aid Beauty
Available at Sephora
Perfect for normal to dry skin types, especially young skin with basic requirements.
Most products are below $50.
Favourite product: Ultra Repair Cream.
First Aid Beauty has, like Kiehl’s, many good choices for normal to dry skin types. Even better are the prices, which are the most affordable on this list. Antioxidants are a big deal with First Aid Beauty, as are rich and creamy textures. And if you are particularly sensitive all First Aid Beauty products are formulated without fragrance, which is always a good thing.
